Benefits: Adopting a natural capital accounting framework has empowered the region’s natural resource managers to engage and educate community, strategically plan environmental restoration and species recovery actions, secure natural capital investments, and measure and report to stakeholders on the results of environmental initiatives.

In 2022, Ecotec’s Director, Matthew Taylor, co-led the development of a world-pioneering comprehensive environmental assessment across the Burnett Mary NRM region in central coastal Queensland, culminating in a landscape-scale accredited Natural Capital Account.
