Project feature - Kenmay Station natural capital account

Project cost: $1.2M funding through the Qld Govt Land Restoration Fund

Project scale: 928 ha

Time frame: 1 year

Benefits:

  • The landowners not only unlocked grant funding, but also enhanced the ecological health, soil quality, and the overall condition of their property and the catchment and Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, while obtaining ongoing benefits through enhanced monitoring of native vegetation and sustained environmental improvements, generating additional ACCU income.

Ecotec partnered with Carbon Stock, a carbon and biodiversity consultancy, to support Queensland graziers to secure a grant and potential future carbon income by developing an environmental account and land management plan for their environmentally important farm, ‘Kenmay Station’, a picturesque 928-hectare cattle grazing property in the upper catchment of the Baffle Drainage Basin, a priority catchment for mitigating harmful sediment flow into the reef.
